Judge Gevaux!
Origin Barista Trainer Phil Gevaux was in Cambridgeshire recently to take part in an accreditation day to become a judge at next year’s UK Barista Championships.
It will be the third year in a row that Phil will have the opportunity to use his knowledge and expertise to judge heats at the UK’s most prestigious barista orientated event.

Competing baristi will have 15 minutes to make four cappuccinos, four espressos and four ‘signature’ drinks of their own creation. They will be judged on each drinks flavour and texture as well as their speed, professionalism, attention to detail and knowledge of their coffee’s provenance.
Phil commented "The judge’s training and calibration day was an interesting and valuable experience. I am really looking forward to getting involved with the competition yet again and view the quality of the coffee served throughout the UK."
Tom Sobey, Director Origin Coffee added: "I am really pleased for Phil as this gives him the opportunity to continue to develop his knowledge in the world of espresso and the chance to pass on his experience and knowledge to our customers at his regular training days here at Origin."
The South-West heats of The UK Barista Championships will take place at ExpoWest Westcountry Exhibition in Exeter from 2nd to 4th February 2010.
The Hotelympia Show, at London's ExCel Exhibition Centre, will be the host of the 2010 UK Barista Championship semi-final and final rounds, with the semi-finals taking place February 28, and the finals on March 1, when the UK's best barista will be chosen.
